On a very hot 10th July the Vicarage garden hosted our annual Garden Party. The event was very successful, as many people came along to enjoy the lovely food, people and sun. Despite the hot weather, everybody seemed to enjoy themselves.
During the afternoon, I managed to walk around and talk to some very lovely visitors. Here are some of the comments I would love to share with you.
“A good team effort and we thought it gave people of all ages a chance to come together. We …

About a year ago I received a letter from the Diocese offering me a sabbatical during 2010; or, rather, 3 months ‘Extended Ministerial Development Leave’. On June 22nd some of us will be going to see the Saltmine Theatre Company and on July 3rd will be going to see the ‘Life of Christ’ at Wintershalls. I look forward to …

Each summer 50 children from the local area meet to enjoy a fun-filled week of crafts, games and interaction with a biblical topic at St. Johns Church. Most of the children who attend have no church background and will often only come to activities such as this.
In order for all this to happen we have a group of people praying and planning for the week. They take into consideration the needs of the children and how best to present the Christian message to a non-church culture. There are …

A Life in the Day of… Mandy Watts

I am definitely not a morning person. My alarm goes off begrudgingly at 8am and if I can, I will try to get away with a couple of ‘snoozes’ before I make it out of bed. There is one week of the year where I am forced to be a ‘morning person’ – while on camp with the teenagers in the Summer – but that is the only time I will, literally, rise to the occasion. From that regard I am fortunate that I work from home …
