Choir
What are the choir’s main duties?
- Lead the hymns at the 10am services on the second, third and fourth Sundays of each month
- Sing an anthem during Communion at the 10 am service at those same services
- Sing Choral Evensong at 6.30pm on the second, third and fourth Sundays each month
NB. Not all singers sing at all services!
How do I join?
Use one of the following methods:
- Email James Casselton, the choir director. (jcasselton@googlemail.com)
- ‘Try out’ the choir at any Thursday evening choir practice (7.30pm-9pm) in the church. You will be assured a warm welcome but no ‘hard sell’!
- Speak to any member of the choir or clergy at coffee in the church hall after the 10am service
All are welcome – there is no audition!
How much commitment do I have to make?
- Feel free to give as much/as little time to the choir as you have available
- - as long as you feel that you can keep up!
- Informing James of known absences in advance helps him to plan music according to the number of singers available
What will joining the choir do for you?
- As you would expect, the choir has its own social calendar
- Singers of any ability can develop their musical knowledge and vocal skills by following the Royal School of Church Music’s Voice for Life scheme
- Personal and spiritual fulfillment in using your voice to enhance your own and others’ worship
