History

“For over 1000 years the House of God has stood on the low hill overlooking the river Thames. During these centuries the Family of God has come to this place to offer Him praise and worship, the service of their lives, and to receive from Him His gifts of Grace. The great moments of their lives have been blessed by the ministry of His sacraments; their joys and sorrows have been shared with Him and their needs have been offered to Him in prayer. Kings and Queens have worshipped here; young and old have sung their praises here; week by week, year in year out, the members of the Church Family have come here in ages past as they do today. The Church has never been just a building, but the home of the living fellowship of those who belong to the Lord – who are the Church.”

The Church of St Mary, Walton-on-Thames – A History: Irene R. Sandells 1992.
