The memorial to Field-Marshall Viscount Shannon, who lived at Ashley House and died in 1740.
This memorial is the most outstanding in the church, not just for its size but for its artistic quality.
It was commissioned by his daughter, Lady Middlesex, from Louis Francois Roubilliac, the famous sculptor then active in England. It was restored in recent years by English Heritage.
