What are the choir's main duties?
- Lead the hymns at the 10am services on the second, third and fourth
Sundays of each month
- Sing an anthem during Communion at the 10 am service
- Sing Choral Evensong every Sunday at 6.30pm
How do I join?
Use one of the following methods:
- Email James Casselton,
the choir director, (or 'phone 07880 705795)
- 'Try out' the choir at any Thursday evening choir practice (7.30pm-9pm)
in the church. You will be assured a warm welcome but no 'hard sell'!
- Speak to any member of the choir or clergy at coffee in the church
hall after the 10am service
- Children from the age of 8 upwards are most welcome - practice for
young choristers begins at 7pm with Voice for Life training before
practising with the adults from 7.30-8.30pm
- All are welcome - there is no audition!
How much commitment do I have to make?
- Feel free to give as much/as little time to the choir as you have
available
- as long as you feel that you can keep up!
- Informing James of known absences in advance helps him to plan music
according to the number of singers available
What will joining the choir do for you?
- As you would expect, the choir has its own social calendar
- Singers of any ability can develop their musical knowledge
and vocal skills by following the Royal School of Church Music's Voice
for Life scheme
- Personal and spiritual fulfilment in using your voice to enhance your
own and others' worship
In June 2004 we hosted a visiting
choir from Houston, Texas. |
